The juice of a beetroot

I have heard of people using vegetables as dyes for silks and other things. The thought of beetroot - wow! What a beautiful colour. So I purchased a couple of beetroots and boiled them. I had them with my tea that night, but the juice was still there.

I am an artist. I love painting with watercolours and oils and pastels. But how about beetroot juice - I cannot throw this away. I decided on a sample picture of a scene of hills for background and maybe a tree in the foreground.

A simple wash was added to watercolour paper. Oh, how beautiful. Letting this dry, I then added more and then this tree came and lo and behold - a beautiful pinky, purple picture came to life. What to call it?

How about 'The Beetroot Tree'.
